Learning from the Street aims to connect with a type of design language that is often unseen, unspoken and underrepresented. A way of learning which is empirical, slow and less institutional. The talk contains a search for origins which are found on the street, and which pave the way for new ideas and forms closely tied to ethics and aesthetics.
The street for us is both a site for learning and a site of emergence for architectures and cities which are more flexible, more tolerant, and that stem from what is already at hand.
Urban Radicals (U R) designs objects, rooms, architectures and landscapes. We are a network of friends, colleagues and expert collaborators, working together to solve design problems across contexts and scales. We believe form follows force, and that design is ultimately the expression and articulation of form and the forces which make it: materials, people, places, histories, and circumstances. We seek to identify, strengthen and give form to these forces.
